Trips and Events
Learning is not restricted to the classroom at Highfields and we are proud to offer our students a huge range of trips to enhance their learning and reward them for their efforts and achievements.
From trips to Parliament to see politics in action, Spanish restaurants to put foreign languages to the test or the National Space Centre to showcase science, our programme of trips is vast and varied to appeal to all students and bring all elements of the curriculum to life.
Students are also given the chance to visit universities to get hands-on experience of life after Highfields, hit the slopes on a biannual ski trip or visit theatres up and down the country to see how professional productions are staged. Trips to Auschwitz and The Somme are run to give students an insight into the horrific realities of war.
As well as the busy trips schedule, Highfields also runs a packed programme of events involving students from all year groups. Every year students are encouraged to raise funds for a dedicated charity and throw their weight behind organising a range of fundraisers, such as fancy dress and cake sales. Students are also encouraged to take part in the many school events run by Highfields, such as the Autumn Festival and Christmas Concert, whether it be showcasing their performance talents to live audiences, baking cakes to sell to visitors, or giving up their time to welcome guests at the door.
As well as events involving the entire school, Highfields is also keen to reward students for their efforts and achievements, such as good behaviour and high attendance. Special events are arranged to reward these students, including a Summer Social featuring a live DJ, computer games and outdoor BBQ.
